Korimana - A place of healing and personal restoration in Ecuador

Nestled in the magical Andean highlands of La Maná in Ecuador, Korimana is more than a retreat centre. After having travelled around Ecuador and the Galapagos, my last few days in Ecuador were spent at this very special sanctuary. Think pristine forests, rivers, and waterfalls, Korimana is situated in one of the country’s most biodiverse and energetically rich environments.

The name Korimana reflects the spiritual and ancestral essence of it’s location. The name “Kori” comes from Quechua and means gold, while “Maná” originates from Sanskrit and represents abundance and knowledge. What makes Korimana unique is its natural gift: pure spring water. Korimana’s location has an above-ground natural source of water that has colloidal gold; both are considered a vital part of the healing energies. Splendor, the name of the water is used for drinking, bathing, and healing.

Our four night healing programme would include ancestral wisdom and modern healing through therapies guided by highly skilled healers and therapists. We were able to participate in yoga, meditation, Reiki, energy activations, and mindfulness practices, all designed to restore balance and nurture the soul.

Korimana is a place to heal, to transform, and to reconnect. How blessed was I, to be one of the first participants of their healing retreat programme in January 2026.

Korimana’s sacred grounds are surrounded by pristine jungle and feature various ceremonial spaces, a beautiful yoga deck immersed in nature, a sound healing sanctuary, a temazcal, massage cabins, meditation gardens, and crystal-clear natural water sources. This ancestral land holds powerful volcanic energy, offering a sacred space for deep healing and transformation.

After a long scenic drive from Quito, through the Lower Andes and Cotapaxi valley, we drove through the gated entrance. The driveway meanders through a cacao estate to the main pyramid which stands tall like a throwback to the Mayan civilisation. Greeted by our facilitators and spiritual guides, we checked in before meeting our co participants for a welcome drink. The pace of the treatment plan was explained and an orientation of the grounds followed. This was going to be a special place to unwind, be still, relax and rejuvenate.

As well as the wellness programme offered, there is wholesome nutrition inspired by nature.

The Korimana culinary philosophy focuses on organic ingredients, natural products, certified artisanal producers, conscious nutrition, and wellness-focused dining. Every culinary experience is designed to complement the guests’ physical, emotional, and spiritual healing process.

Korimana is guided by a strong commitment to sustainability. They focus on protecting the natural environment, preserving biodiversity, and supporting local communities. Operationally, we love the management of the project as it implements responsible water treatment systems, flora and fauna monitoring, supports local communities through their educational programmes, women led ancestral cacao projects, and partnerships with local producers.

We are delighted to hear about the important milestone for Korimana Healing Retreat: they have become part of Healing Hotels of the World. This recognition means a great deal as they share their philosophy of creating spaces where healing, wellbeing, and conscious hospitality come together. This property joins a global community dedicated to meaningful transformation and holistic wellness.

“Korimana carries a rare depth; healing here feels intentional, grounded, and profoundly authentic. The team embodies this spirit with remarkable presence, and the quiet power of the land and its extraordinary water makes it truly exceptional.” Dr Elisabeth Ixmeier from Healing Hotels of the World.
