Key Sustainable Features…

Kalkan Regency has made concentrated efforts to produce wholesome experiences not only for their guests, but also for the surrounding community. One their most prized assets is the Ecological Farm, which ensures that local workers are paid for producing local produce. Guests will be surprised to learn that their meals may have been roaming nearby fields and were pulled from the ground just hours before being plated up.

Kalkan Regency and its partners have focused their energies on three specific areas - ‘People, Policies and Planet’. We believe these to be their key sustainable features -

  • Support for ‘Kas4Kids Kalkan’, where unwanted clothing is delivered to local children.

  • Continuous fundraising for the local hospital, contributing to the installation of medical equipment

  • Annual beach clean operation, where a special team spend a day at the beginning of the season going out onto the local beaches to collect rubbish and plastic waste.

Travel Matters Highlights…

A Travel Matters holiday should always be an education…and what better way to learn about your destination than its food?

Turkish cuisine is possibly the most underrated of all global cuisines. Everyone is familiar with a Kebab, or at least a Frankenstein’s Creature-esque mass produced-congealed-alterative that is found amongst most high streets within the U.K! Please, rid your mind of this shameful stigma! Instead, enjoy thin slices of lamb that have been gently braised over an open fire and then caressed with freshly made tomato sauce, baptised with a touch of sizzled butter and served with a healthy dollop of tangy yoghurt. Bliss! Enjoy the freshness of the morning catch that has been delicately shaped into a perfect wheel of rice, fried onions, peanuts and fresh herbs that is known as Hamsili Pilav. Rejoice in the Gozleme’s thin layers of pastry that have been perfectly stacked upon one another, encasing a subtle blend of minced beef, cheese and spinach. Celebrate a Western Pastry Chef’s worst baking nightmare and let the local honey ooze from the freshly baked Turkish Baklava and gently trickle down your chin!

Turkey has an unbelievable cuisine, so you will be over the moon to hear that Kalkan Regency have invested their time & money in producing spectacular produce directly from their Ecological Farm. Everything grown is eco-friendly and with almost 90% vegetables of the best quality, from ground to table in a matter of hours, the Regency has a reputation for producing unforgettable meals!

Map & Location…

Turkey is synonymous for its Aegean and Mediterranean coastlines, exquisite regional cuisine and is home to two of the seven Ancient Wonders of the World – the Temple of Artemis and Mausoleum (Halicarnassus). A country shrouded in an incredible past that has left visible marks of its recent Ottoman history, which are visible in relics, fortresses and imposing forts.

Whilst holidaying in the Aegean & Mediterranean coastline you may be pleasantly surprised to encounter a countryside that is rife with extraordinary wildlife & enchanting forestry. A holiday to Kalkan will reveal the rugged and dramatic Taurus Mountains, hanging tombs, unspoilt coves & beaches, UNESCO World Heritage Sites and much more. If you are drawn to the sea and want to spend half your holiday bobbing around in a postcard-like waters, this is a region that you need to experience!
