Travel Matters Highlights…

History! The sheer History of Argos in Cappadocia is nothing short of astonishing.

Since 1996 the hotel has been carefully renovating to protect its immediate location and therefore is regarded as one of the most significant transformation projects within the private sector, not only in Turkey, but in the world. On the site of thousand-years-old Monastery campus, the hotel has carefully combined sub-terrain tunnels and historical houses into what guests are able to enjoy today. This was no simple task, as Argos in Cappadocia employed the help of expert architects, historians and the ‘Cultural & Natural Heritage Preservation Board’ who all assisted with safeguarding the identity of the hotel and its landscape, which is known by locals as the Hotel with a Village for a Heart. Everything about the hotel has been finely tuned to encourage as authentic an experience as possible, including the use of local masonry, woods, Turkish handicrafts, relics, furnishings, rugs, audio playlists and dining.

What’s more is Argos in Cappadocia’s continued perseverance to assist and help local communities. Take for instance, their '‘Texture’ project & ‘Applied Training Workshops’ that give women the opportunity to reclaim their financial independence, future and self-confidence. With the support of the Uçhisar Municipality and the Doğuş Group, over 200,000 handmade products have been sold.

Travel Matters loves to work with partners who provide incredible holiday experiences, but it’s more important to us that our clients are having an education holiday too…we think Argos in Cappadocia is the ideal blend of R&R and gaining a cultural understanding.

Map & Location…

In certain respects Turkey is relatively young nation, having achieved its independence in 1923. But before ‘The Treaty of Lausanne’, the country had a rich Ottoman history that has shaped its culture. Turkey has a population of 82 million that spreads over two continents, meaning its landscape is vast and varied.

Cappadocia can be found inland, around 800 miles east of Istanbul. A trip to the Anatolian plains reveals peculiar volcanic topography that includes honeycombed hills, basalt stone fairy chimneys and awesome mountains. It comes as little surprise that the Göreme Valley and Rock Sites of Cappadocia are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Today, the region is popular for its hot air balloon tours, mountains, valleys, underground tunnels & villages, castles, pink salt lake (Tuz) and all-encompassing viewing points. Argos in Cappadocia is situated overlooking Uchisar village, so guests can expect the stunning views to be a constant affair.

Cappadocia is spoilt with activities & things to do, so allow for you itinerary to be filled with a visit to Goreme Open Air Museum, the underground cities of Kaymakli & Derinkuyu (and their wineries), hikes up to Mount Erciyes, Hasan & Gullu, horseback riding, mountain biking and much more. Due to its rich past and incredible amount of civilisations, dynasties, monuments and cultural legacies; a footprint of this nations identity has been firmly cemented in day-to-day life.

The perfect holiday for the outdoorsperson!
