Another island retreat, but in a much more rustic authentic design style, built to resemble a traditional Thai Village. On the butterfly shaped island of Phi Phi, 55 minutes by speedboat (daylight hours only) from Phuket.
Just 52 single storey villas and suites, either at beach level or elevated on the hillside, with dark teak woods, thatched roofs, rattan furniture and open plan living area.
Facilities include on the beach restaurant with lounging cushions option, small swimming pool, spa, a selection of non-motorised water sports, dive centre. Organised entertainment is low key/non existent, although the Holiday Inn shares the small beach and will have slightly more activity.
Our opinion – Probably the most expensive hotel on Phi Phi by a stretch, but don’t be influenced by the price alone, the appeal here is deliberately simple and easy going. It is charming rather than obviously luxurious, so keep your expectations realistic. If you want the experience of an authentic Thai home, cross legged beach dining and gentle natural pursuits, it could be ideal.
