There should be codes of conduct for all volunteer travellers but they need to be specific to each community - and volunteer rganisations code - here I find more of a challenge - who polices the code and wt what cost to whom? As you know our answer has been to undergo an independent audit - but it may be that there is a code where all can agree to minimum core values. I am a cynic - i have seen too much rhetoric and not enough evidence. I was rewarded in in December last year with a brief but spectacular performance of the Aurora Borealis whilst staying in the town of Akureyri in the north of the country. You'll just have to make a return visit to what I consider to be one of the most breathtakingly stunning landscapes on the planet!
